Flow Optimisation Project

Brief

At a flow interconnect point, several different streams come together flowing in various directions that taken together, net off against each other and have different operational trigger points. Prior to the Flow Optimisation Project, path flows and capacities were manually calculated periodically based on usage requirements.

Problems

This created the following problems for the company

• Revenue lost due to non-optimised path flow calculations

• Time delay on flow while manual calculations were completed and reviewed

• Regular calculation errors

• No integration with existing operational systems

Solution

A calculator was created that drew information directly from the customer facing system. This created a 1 button solution for the company, where 1 button was pressed, a brief sub 30 second calculation is completed with the flow and operational state being output.
